National Heritage Monument · 19th Century · Piatra, Orhei, Moldova
The Onică-Bogdasarov estate belonged to the Armenian noble family Bagdasarov, who settled in Bessarabia from Turkey alongside Manuc Bey. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was a typical boyar household: poultry and livestock farms, vineyards, orchards, a wine cellar, a natural lake, and even its own electricity generator — an absolute rarity in rural Moldova at the time.
Today, the estate is listed as a national architectural monument of the Republic of Moldova. Its main building, covering approximately 500m² across 12 rooms, retains its neoclassical architectural integrity — offering a unique restoration and reconversion opportunity.
The main building is erected by the Bagdasarov family — Armenian nobles who settled in Bessarabia alongside Manuc Bey.
A self-sufficient noble household: winery, natural lake, stables, orchards, vineyards, and a private electricity generator — extraordinary for rural Moldova.
The property is confiscated under Soviet rule and temporarily repurposed as a detention facility.
Converted to a grain depot by the collective farm "Serghei Lazo." The estate's original function is abandoned, but the main building's neoclassical structure survives.
Listed as a protected architectural monument of the Republic of Moldova. Now presented as a unique restoration and reconversion opportunity.
The main building, constructed from fired brick and Cosăuți stone, preserves its neoclassical symmetry and architectural character after more than 150 years. The domain includes a natural lake at the front, a historic winery to the rear, stables, agricultural annexes, orchards, and vineyards — a complete ecosystem ready for revitalization.
